CCRC Christmas Party

Everyone is invited to the Clarke County Republican Committee Christmas Party, which will be held in lieu of a December meeting. You do not need to bring anything other than yourselves, as food and beverages will be provided.

Georgia Republican Gubernatorial Debate
The Clarke County Republican Party is sponsoring a debate featuring GOP candidates for the governorship of Georgia. The debate will take place at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, 19 January 2010.Invited Republican candidates for the office of Governor include:
• Georgia State SenatorJeff Chapman of Brunswick
• United States Representative Nathan Deal of Gainesville
• Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel of Atlanta
• Georgia State Senator Eric Johnson of Savannah
• Businessman Ray McBerry of Cumming
• Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine of Lawrenceville
• Georgia State Representative Austin Scott of Tifton
Moderating the debate will be WNEG-TV news anchor Ray Metoyer. Panelists include WALB-TV news anchor Dawn Hobby, WGCL-TV news co-anchor Stephanie Fisher, and WGAU radio news director Tim Bryant.
Radio and television broadcasts will cover the entire state. WNEG of Toccoa, WALB of Albany, WGCL of Atlanta, and WMAZ of Macon will televise the debate live. Several other TV stations around the state will have access to the feed for later broadcast. Also, the debate will be broadcast live on WGAU radio in the Athens area and will be available across the state on many of the 114 radio stations affiliated with the Georgia News Network.

UGA College Republicans November Events

04 November
Melvin Everson, current State Representative from the 106th District and candidate for Commissioner of Labor, will address the UGA College Republicans this evening at 6:00 p.m. in Room 250 of the Miller Learning Center. Everson will speak on his plan to create jobs in the state of Georgia.
07 November
Members of the UGA College Republicans will pass out “Dawgs for Olens” stickers prior to UGA’s homecoming game against Tennessee Tech. Olens is current Chairman of the both the Cobb County Commission and the Atlanta Regional Commission, not to mention candidate for Attorney General.
11 November
The College Republicans will host a State School Superintendent Forum featuring candidates Kathy Cox (the current incumbent), Roger Hines, and Richard Woods. The Forum takes place at 6:00 p.m. in Room 250 of the Miller Learning Center.
13 November
U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson will be speaking to a meeting jointly hosted by Dawgs for Israel and the UGA College Republicans at 2:00 p.m. in Room 214 of the Miller Learning Center (see the previous post below).
18 November
Current 9th District Congressman and candidate for Governor Nathan Deal will address the College Republicans at 6:00 p.m. in Room 250 of the Miller Learning Center.

Isakson At UGA On Friday The 13th
Johnny Isakson, the Peach State’s junior United States Senator, will be coming to Athens to speak on Friday, 13 November. Isakson will be speaking at 2:00 p.m. in Room 214 of the Miller Learning Center. This event is co-hosted by Dawgs for Israel and the College Republicans. He is a strong supporter of the State of Israel and of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. Come hear Senator Isakson speak and be ready to ask any questions that you may have on healthcare, immigration, the economy, or anything else..
CCRC November Meeting
Join us for the CCRC's next monthly meeting, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 09 November. Our speaker for the evening will be a representative from the Center for an Educated Georgia speaking on the issue of school choice.
The meeting will take place at CCRC Headquarters, located at 445 North Milledge Avenue. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:00 p.m., with the program following at 6:25 p.m.

Applicants must be Athens-Clarke County residents and registered to vote in Athens-Clarke County. Interested citizens can obtain an application and informational packet by clicking here. The deadline for applications to be delivered to the Clerk of Commission is Friday, 06 November. Applications can be dropped off in person at City Hall Room 204 or mailed to ACC Clerk of Commission, P.O. Box 1868, Athens GA 30603-1868. Call (706) 613-3031 if you have questions.
Also, The October 2009 Term of the Grand Jury of Athens-Clarke County has been charged with appointing at least 21 members to the 2010 Athens-Clarke County Overview Commission. The Overview Commission is responsible for conducting a review and evaluation of the operation of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County at least once every ten years. The commission will convene on 05 January, 2010 and is required to complete its review within twelve months. Finally, the SPLOST 2011 Committee will be accepting project requests for SPLOST 2011 through Tuesday, 15 December. Instructions, contact information and information on how to submit a project are available online through the SPLOST 2011 link. Please be aware that projects can be very complicated and require detailed information, particularly for cost projections. In most cases, it is advised that individuals interested in submitting a project for consideration should work with an organization or agency or contact the appropriate Athens-Clarke County department.
